Breeze Airways Expands in July 2026 With New Service to Birmingham and Tallahassee
Breeze Airways is adding two new Sun Belt cities to its network this summer, with new service launching in July 2026. The Utah-based carrier will begin flying to Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) on July 2, followed by Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) on July 3.
In both markets, Breeze plans to operate nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), giving travelers new point-to-point options that avoid traditional hub connections.
New Birmingham and Tallahassee nonstops
- BHM–FLL: Mondays and Fridays, starting July 3, 2026
- BHM–RDU: Mondays and Fridays, starting July 3, 2026
- TLH–FLL: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, starting July 2, 2026
- TLH–RDU: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, starting July 2, 2026
Breeze positions these routes as time-savers for travelers in smaller and mid-sized cities. Founder and CEO David Neeleman has long argued that nonstop service in underserved markets can replace hours lost to hub connections or long drives.

Competition and shifting market dynamics
This expansion comes amid changing competitive conditions in U.S. low-cost flying. Several of Breeze’s new routes either overlap with existing service from other carriers or step into markets that have recently seen capacity reductions.
In Florida, Breeze’s added flying from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) also reflects broader network reshuffling. Some routes align with gaps left by airlines that have reduced or ended service in certain city pairs, particularly within the state.
Breeze will also face established competition on select routes, including service from carriers such as Allegiant, JetBlue, and Southwest in certain markets—especially where Florida leisure demand is strongest.
What it means for travelers
For passengers in Birmingham and Tallahassee, the biggest benefit is straightforward: more nonstop options to major leisure and connecting markets. For Breeze, the July 2026 launch further reinforces its strategy of linking midsize and underserved cities with direct flights—often at frequencies tailored to weekend and peak leisure travel patterns.
